Wood Burning Fireplace Details
Weber has risen to the challenge of rust! The porcelain enameled lid and bowl does not rust like many other fire pits or grills on the market. Even better the fire place itself is heavy-gaged steel and will last for years. The heat shield is also made of anti-rusting aluminum and the support ring is galvanized steel. Knowing people would be using this fireplace at campgrounds, on patios, or in gardens Weber also made the pit very portable. At only 29.5 inch diameter base and 38 lbs. almost anyone can move this pit to the perfect location and enjoy the great outdoors.
Weber 2726 Review
I have been a long time Weber man. The first grill I remember eating off of was a Weber and that grill lasted throughout my childhood without fail. When I bought my first starter grill it also was a well-used Webber. And several years later my next upgrade was… you guessed it a Weber. When I found out Weber made fire pits I knew right where I was going.
Like all things Weber it might not be the flashiest pit on the market but it is durable, well designed and sturdy. I had no doubt this pit will be with me for years! I quickly ordered the Weber 2726 and when it arrived I had about 30 minutes worth of assembly. I did notice this grill is rather low to the floor. Even with the aluminum heat shield I was glad my patio was cement and not wood. When we travel with the pit I do make sure to put it on brick or cement to keep wood surfaces guarded from the heat.
I could not wait to put some of my well-seasoned wood into the Weber outdoor fireplace. I did use both the protective screen around the fire place as well as the top on my first test run with this pit. It worked wonderfully, but I did notice you did not really need either part. If you want open flame the protective screen is easy to remove. Also, by using the top there becomes a nice downward air flow meaning your feet will be rather warm. If you choose to use the pit without the top this benefit will not be there but it is nice option to have.
Another wonderful feature of the lid is its smothering effect. It by no means will put out your fire extremely quick but because of that downward air flow the carbon will keep the flames on the lower level. If you tighten the lid very tightly it will smother the fire quicker. This is a great benefit for those of us that do not want to sit around all night waiting for a fire to go out.
