Starry Night Fire Dome

Starry Night Fire DomeThe dome’s design sets this pit apart from the rest. Jason Long was inspired by the night sky and just had to share it with the rest of us. The dome of this fire pit details a starry night.  Both the dome and the durable basin are intricately cut  out of steel. With all the details on this pit one could be worried the basics of a great fire pit are over looked, but this is far from the case. The artwork is fully functional while being unique and a great conversation piece.

There are also several sizes to pick from ranging from 21.5 inch diameters to 30 inch diameters. With so many options you are sure to find the perfect size for you.  Each of the fire pits come with the dome, base, stand, and a dome lifting rod for easy wood refills.

Starry Night Fire Pit Review

My oldest son, Richard, bought his first home last summer. Following in my footsteps he did not choose to paint, or re-tile the bathroom, but instead went straight to the backyard. He added a pool, a patio, and some nicely placed scrubs to make the backyard up to entertainment standards. As Richard laid out plans for the patio design he had thought about building in a good size fire pit. His wonderful wife did not see the need and quickly squashed that idea.

After a small battle Richard did win the right to get a “pretty” fire pit, as if the flames dancing in a pit are not pretty enough. After a quick search at the local big chain stories Richard realized his search needed to go online. He soon stumbled across this beauty and ordered it. To my surprise I did not get a phone call asking to help set up the pit. What I did receive was an invitation for a fire side chat. The assembly of this pit took him no more than 5 minutes, a fact he was proud to rub in later that night.

Even with an easy assembly this pit is a bit on the heavy side. He bought the mid-range pit and it comes in weighing roughly 50 lbs. when completed. My advice is to set up the pit where you want to leave it. You can move it later but you would want to remove the dome, and depending on your strength maybe even the base from the stand prior to moving. On the good side, its weight will prevent any tip overs. When dealing with flames this is always a good thing!

The hook to lift the hot dome is extremely easy to use. Another great feature of this pit is the ring that sits between the dome and the base. This ring does not heat up as quickly as the rest of the pit. It also gives space so any future grand-kids of mine will have to work harder to touch the pit and burn themselves. That is a great unexpected feature.

Another thing to note is that you can also purchase the Starry Night fire dome on its own (without the fire tub base) which is a good option for upgrading an a more basic fire tub you already own.
