CobraCo SH101 Copper Fire Tub Design
Deep is an understatement! The extra deep tub allows for a larger, longer lasting fire. Yet, being made out of copper the pit is extremely light weight (31lbs) and can easily be moved from one area to the next. The copper tub also eliminates the rust so many pits will acquire over the years as well as gives a rustic texture and charm to the CobraCo SH101. The tub also includes a heavy duty screen cover, a sturdy metal stand, and an easy to access top hook on the cover to allow for easy wood replacement.
One of the things I really like about the SH101 is just how thick the hand hammered copper is. Many copper fire bowls are pretty flimsy and might prove easy to dent, but this is extremely solid. Being made of copper it copes well with the stresses and strains of repeated heating and cooling too.
CobraCo Hand Hammered Copper Fire Tub Review
It took me years to convert my video game loving little brother into an outdoors man. I tried everything I could to get him off the sofa and into a camp site. This did not work and I attempted to get him into my world from a different angle. I needed a fire pit he could use in his backyard that required little up keep during use, as well as in-between usage. I did not want to push my luck by requiring extra effort on his part. I am so glad I got this pit. My brother, Aaron, is in love with this fire pit.
Since there is a large copper tub there is a lot of extra room for larger, longer lasting logs. The fire can go all night long without much tending. Also because of the copper finishing the tub is easy to rinse out, and dry. No more than a few minutes of clean up. Even though the copper should stop the tub from rusting the rest of the fire pit is made with steel and cast iron and can require a cover to insure the tub lasts season after season. Knowing the pit was going to sit where I put it for a long while I made sure I purchased him a cover as well. This pit has been in heavy use and outside for two solid years and has little signs of rust.
Putting this pit together was as easy as it gets. All you need to do is take the pit out of the box and it was ready to go. There really is little to no assembly required. This makes it helpful for the first use, or any time you will need to move it to or from site to site. Over all this is a basic fire pit that will stand up strong to any of the fancy pits other companies may offer. It is a good investment for someone who is looking to upgrade from a small starter pit.
